Peacock in our lakes

I caught another peacock today in the main lake. This is the third that I have caught. The first two in the spring were quite small, ~8-9 inches. This one was more like 12-13 inches. I wonder if it is from the same brood and has grown that much in 6 months. Pretty good fighter for it's size.

They do fight hard. My neighbor had a few over 15 inches.

Here's a nice one I caught yesterday in the lake.

Another peacock / butterfly post. Today I caught a 2.1 pound butterfly. Hit like a ton of bricks and immediately stripped off 10 feet of line. I thought I finally had that 8 pound largemouth. Surprised to see what it was. 10 minutes later I got another around one pound. It seems that they are everywhere all of a sudden. I hope that doesn't hurt the largemouth fishery in our lakes. Sorry about the crappy selfie. Not my forte!

I have caught some nice ones in that area also. Hope the fishing lines have been tight lately!
