Food for thought. I have lived here since 2013. At first the fishing was unbelievable. My opinion, it has gotten a little worse each year. But the problem with my opinion, it is only my opinion and really shouldn’t carry much weight. Consequently, in order to determine if my conclusions had any validity l volunteered to be on the lake committee. I have been a member fo 5 or 6 years. My hope was, by being on the lake committee, l would be able to convince the decision makers that a detailed study of the lake by a qualified biologist was in the best interest of the community. So far, no luck. Several years ago a biologist from SWFU submitted a proposal for $100,000.00. It was tabled that year but indicated it would be included in the next years budget. Didn’t happen.
We now have a project underway, which l support, for $17,000,000.00 but no lake study. Admittedly, we have not had the clout to get the attention of the powers that be. But thanks to Mark Forster we now have a fishing club and with a concerted effort, it can provide the voice we need.
Hopefully enough of us will see the need for ongoing monitoring of one of the potentially best fishing facility in all of southwest Fl and our
story will finally produce favorable results.
Thanks for listening and if you agree, discuss a study with as many people you can.
